To the East of Pretoria Central lies the upmarket residential and golfing estate of Silver Lakes. Those travelling to Silver Lakes for either business or pleasure are in for a treat. Business travellers will appreciate the fact that Silver Lakes is conveniently located, just 20 km from the Pretoria city centre and an easy commute to Johannesburg on the N1. For those who prefer not to drive, the nearest Gautrain Station is in Hatfield, 15 minutes away.
Silver Lakes’ charm is that while it is close to the city and amenities, once in the estate itself you can easily shut out the city rush and pretend that you are out in the bush. With stunning views across Pretoria and the Bronberge and a bushveld teeming with wildlife, it feels just like a nature reserve. The bird life is particularly active in Silver Lakes and even rare bird species like the African spoonbills, purple gallinules, fish eagle and grass owls happily share this space with people.
Undoubtedly, Silver Lakes is best known for its championship golf course. The Par 72 course was designed by Peter Matkovich and incorporates his trademark water design features. Water plays a role on 10 out of the 18 holes, making for a challenging course. The golf estate also includes natural dams to fish in, two tennis courts, two squash courts, a game reserve filled with local buck and small animals, and nature hiking trails.
If you are not an avid golfer, make your way to one of the nearby Pretoria attractions: shopping at Woodlands Boulevard, taking in the sights at the Faerie Glen Nature Reserve or learning about our heritage at the Pioneer Museum.

Silver Lakes
It is a lovely area with shops and malls located within 20km. There are beautiful developments and I notice the Curro School which has an excellent reputation. The only disappointment with all the developments in the east, is that the road infrastructure has not been updated to cater for all the developments. Lynnwood and Graham roads are still single lanes as I recall from living there in the late 80's.
