The Wild Coast, on the east coast of South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, gets its name both from the untamed nature of the ocean on this part of the coast, but also from its sometimes rugged and unkempt coastline. Throughout the region the climate is mild, rarely dropping below 9°C in the winter or above 28°C in the summer. It receives quite a lot of rain in summer, making the months of December to March quite wet and muddy.
