The Dullstroom Winter Festival 2016
Over the weekend of 8 to 10 July 2016, the quaint town of Dullstroom will be adding a little bit of warmth and merriment to the chilly months with their annual Winter Festival. This year's event marks it's sixth installment and aims once again aims to bring some pre-Christmas spirit to the sleepy town.
Fly fishing will be a highlight of the event, given that Dullstroom is one of South Africa’s most popular trout-fishing destinations and often referred to 'Trouteng' by the locals.
Attendees can expect a host of activities at the festival, from the much-anticipated fly-fishing competitions, trail runs, bike races, numerous whisky, beer and wine tastings, live music and children's entertainment. Seasoned fishermen and newbies can try their luck with some fly fishing while fitness fanatics can stomp the grounds in various trail runs. Live music performances featuring local and South Africa's top-notch artists will be played throughout the day.
For the hungry there are various food stalls offering up a range of gourmet, street-styled grub. If you're looking for a bit of culture, art exhibitions will be showcasing pieces by local artists whose art depicts the everyday happenings in Dullstroom.
The Dullstroom Winter Festival is a great family affair, especially as it takes place over the school winter holidays. Throughout the weekend, there will be a designated kids’ zone and at each individual event, there will be child care and activities available for the younger contingents of your party.
