Dusty Rebels & The Bombshells Rockabilly Festival 2016 - 4
The Dusty Rebels & The Bombshells Rockabilly Festival is a celebration of life - commemorating the diversity of the rockabilly subculture; their eclectic fashion styles, taste for adventure, love of music and appreciation of fast cars. Now in its 4th year running, the event will leave the shores of the Mother City, and will return once again to Pretoria, taking place on 14 May 2016.
The event gives Vaalie 'rockabillies' the chance to embrace their love of hot rods, custom bikes and all thing burlesque, all the while being immersed in the sights and sounds of the '40's and '50's.
Last year, Cape Tonians were treated to a showcasing of vintage cars and bikes upon their arrival. Attendees got into the spirit of the event by donning full 1950's getups. Girls wore polka dot dresses and smeared on bright red lipstick while men looked dashing in plain white tees, denim jeans, and boots. To polish the look, Mac cosmetics and Scar were giving free demonstrations to festival-goers, while men could get haircuts at the onsite barbershop.
While the lineup has yet to be disclosed, if last year is anything to go by, music-lovers can look forward to an unparalleled rock n roll music experience. A new addition to the program is the 'Miss Bombshell and Betty Pin-up Pageant', which sees dolled-up contestants gunning for the title of rockabilly queen.
While adults embrace the rockabilly lifestyle through music and dance; children can enjoy a myriad of entertainment and the kiddies play area, complete with professional child-minders and a mini Ferris wheel.
