Eco Film Festival Johannesburg 2015
The 2015 South African Eco Film Festival brings the best local and international eco documentaries to South African audiences. Running from 26 March to 2 April 2015, the world-class programme of beautifully shot and engaging short and feature-length films will explore a wide range of environmental topics. In Johannesburg, the screenings will take place at The Bioscope.
The programme includes more than 25 documentaries, 12 of which have never been seen in South Africa before. Questions that this year's films seek to ask and try answer include: how can parents get their kids away from electronic screens and into nature? What are the thousands of industrial chemicals we are constantly surrounded by doing to our bodies? Will sharks survive humanity’s seemingly insatiable hunger for shark fin soup?
Members of the audience will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite film, which will be decorated with the Silver Tree Audience Choice Award.
The Bioscope is an independent cinema in downtown Johannesburg, and is an important cultural space. It has always aimed to increase the diversity of content on South African cinema screens and continues this tradition with the filming of the SA Eco Film Festival.
