Klein Karoo Klassique 2016
The Klein Karoo plays host to one of the biggest weekend-long celebration of classical music, art, food and wine with the Klein Karoo Klassique Fees.
Taking place in the 'ostrich town' of Oudtshoorn from 11-14 August 2016, the festival includes everything and anything from orchestral concerts to intimate recitals and several national and international award-winning artists.
Last year's classical music line-up included the likes of the ATKV Openingskonsert with Polina Burdukova, Willem de Beer and Johannes Slabbert, Kykie, dis Klassiek, a recital by Sulayman Human and Visser Liebenberg, Eine Kleine Jazzmusik with Charl du Plessis, Magdalene Minnaar, Musanete Sakupwanya, Werner Spies, Hugo, Johanna Roos, Ané van Staden, Valery Andreev and Jessica Bailey, ‘Romantiese Sonates’ with Anmari van der Westhuizen and Ilse Schumann, and many more.
A highlight of the festival is the Mimi Coertse Galakonsert ‘Ons Gaan Groot’. Leading vocalists Magdalene Minaar and Sipho Fubesi wowed the audience and were accompanied by the vocal ensemble of the iconic Cape Town Opera.
As always, art forms a big part of the festival. Art lovers will enjoy paintings, sculptures and ceramics from artists and galleries of the Klein Karoo and surrounds.
True to Western Cape tradition, eating, drinking and being merry will play a major role in the festival. Top quality regional food and wine will be offered to festival-goers inbetween performances. Visitors will be able to taste and experience real Klein Karoo cuisine, the Oudtshoorn way.
A full 2016 lineup as well as online tickets will be available from March 2016.
