Knysna Oyster Festival 2018
South Africa’s premium sport and lifestyle festival, the 35th annual Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival runs during the winter school holidays from 29 June to 8 July 2018. With over 100 lifestyle and sporting events spread over two weekends, the festival offers a diverse programme of sport, gourmet offerings and family-friendly activities.
The two major sporting events that have been incorporated into the festival include the Momentum Weekend Argus Rotary Knysna Cycle Tour and the Momentum Cape Times Knysna Forest Marathon. These events are major attractions for many, and sees hundreds of athletes, as well as spectators, flock to Knysna from around the Western Cape and South Africa.
Having been marketed as the 'best ten days of winter', attendees can look forward to a wide range of events that are back by popular demand.
The rest of the programme includes many sporting and lifestyle events from swimming, bowls, and hiking to food and wine-tastings, live music, a special children’s programme and of course, lots and lots of oysters!
Visitors can look forward to the festival’s classic events, such as the ever-popular road and mountain bike races, the Knysna Wine Festival and Night Market, mid-week signature events such as the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival Flavours of Knysna served with Tabasco, the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival Comedy Shuckle and the Local Design and Food Market.
The Knysna Oyster Festival is family-orientated, with the needs of children being catered for. While you dine on oysters, take part in sport's challenges or sip on wines, your kids will be kept duly entertained. Children's activities include plays, puppet theatre, cookery classes and art courses as well as the annual Knysna School Sports Fair.
