The Galileo Open Air Cinema returns to Cape Town’s starry skies for another magical season, running until 16 May 2026!
Now in its 14th year, this beloved summer tradition combines picnics, movies, and starlit evenings in some of the Cape’s most beautiful settings. This season introduces exciting new additions, including live sport screenings, dog-friendly shows, themed nights, exclusive Royale experiences, and spectacular new venues – alongside all the fan favourites that make The Galileo a must-do outing.
If you’re searching for fun things to do in Cape Town, The Galileo has you covered. Screenings take place at stunning venues across the Cape:
- Weekdays at the picturesque Kirstenbosch Garden
- Selected Fridays at Central Park, Century City and Battery Park, V&A Waterfront
- Saturdays in the Cape Winelands, with venues in Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek, Wellington, Somerset West and more
Expect a mix of classic and contemporary films – from family favourites and rom-coms to musicals, thrillers, Bollywood hits, and cult classics. It’s the perfect setting for a romantic date night, birthday celebration, family outing, or corporate get-together.
Themed nights like Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter add an extra spark of fun with décor, entertainment, games, and competitions.
A new highlight this year is The Galileo LIVE – a sporting twist on the traditional movie night! Cheer for the Springboks as their test matches are screened outdoors, complete with lawn games, sizzling braai favourites, giveaways, and an unbeatable rugby-day atmosphere.
For an elevated evening, the Galileo Royale experience offers a touch of luxury with a welcome drink, gourmet canapé, and main course – no picnic packing needed.
The Galileo Open Air Cinema is proudly family-friendly, offering birthday specials, pensioner and student discounts, and VIP ticket upgrades (complete with a bag of Chuckles® and other treats).
