The Cape Town Comedy Club, originally known as ‘Jou Ma Se Comedy Club’, was first established by comedian, Kurt Schoonraad in 1995. Its beginnings were humble, forming part of the Cape Town Comedy Festival as a ‘pop up comedy club’.
The club has moved from space-to-space over the years – from Albert Hall in Woodstock to the River Club in Observatory, having finally taken up permanent residence at the historic Pumphouse. Cape Town Comedy Club has gained much credence by the Cape Town community, promising audiences with barrels of laughs by some of the country’s comedic legends.
A variety of comedic heavyweights have taken to the stage at Cape Town Comedy Club, but notable highlights include performances by the international comedians: Michael Mittermeir, Christopher Titus, Babben Larsson, and many others.The club has also played host to many talented South African performers as well as being a popular venue for high profile corporate events.
The Club is opened Wednesdays to Sundays from 6:30 pm, and has a fully catered bar and a restaurant for hungry and thirsty patrons.
