Accommodation near Mabalingwe Country Club
The Mabalingwe Country Club is 5-star
establishment nestled beneath the
spectacular Waterberg Mountains. It boasts a wide range of facilities from
sporting options and outdoor adventures to luxury accommodation. And all this
is within an hour and a half of Pretoria
in Gauteng.
Mabalingwe is both a country club and a golf estate, and surprisingly, given its
impressive facilities and passionate following, it was only established in 2010. Part of its
popularity, as a golf estate anyway, is no doubt due to its creators. It is the
mastermind of enthusiasts Dale Hayes, Steve Dunn and Peter Matkovich. The 18-hole course was designed by Peter Matkovich,
one of South Africa’s most well-known and respected golf course designers. He
is responsible for over 20 of South Africa’s best golf courses, and Mabalingwe
was designed according to United States
Golf Association (USGA) standards.
It boasts a true bushveld golfing experience. There is a combination of kikuyu grass fairways and bent grass
greens, which sometimes provide lunch for the passing parade. There are nearly 450 species of animals which
wonder on the estate. These include zebra, giraffe, blue wildebeest and impala.
Next door, the Mabalingwe Nature Reserve is home to the Big 5.
The country club also boasts squash and tennis courts, a restaurant, a bar,
a conference centre and a 5-star lodge.
If golf and traditional sports aren’t up
your alley, or should you just feel like a change, Mabalingwe also offers
activities like clay-pigeon shooting,
horse-riding, hiking and fishing. It really is an incredible establishment!
