The Sun City Resort is one of the resorts
operated by the well-known Sun
International group. It proudly appeals to all ages and offers a range of
activities and entertainment options for all tastes. It is often said to be South Africa's most famous casino
experience.
The Sun City holiday resort is located in
the North West province, outside of
Rustenburg and an easy drive from
both Johannesburg and Pretoria. It is an extremely popular destination
among the Gauteng city-dwellers.
The resort has no fewer than 4 hotels which
each boast their own selection of restaurants
and bars. In addition, the main entertainment area (home to the casino, gaming arcade and numerous
other entertainment) has an assortment of eateries and 'watering holes' too.
Apart from the casino, which has plenty of
slot machines and tables, the Valley of
Waves is one of the most-talked about aspects of Sun City. It is a large
artificial beach offering water slides, and you guessed it, waves! There is also an adventure centre where one
can take part in clay pigeon shooting,
paintball, archery, quad biking and hot air ballooning.
For kiddies there is a mini-golf course, bumper boats, treasure hunting and mini-train rides,
while an attraction loved equally by children and adults is the Maze
of the Lost City, which, covering half an acre, is one of the largest permanent mazes in the Southern
Hemisphere.
The maze, which is designed to look like an ancient archaeological site, is accessed
by a 100 metre suspension bridge and reflects the design of the Lost City.
Down the road is the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve, a Big
5 reserve situated in an extinct volcanic crater. A different kind of game
experience can be had on one of the 2
award-winning golf courses at the resort as well as on the tennis and squash courts.
With so much to offer the visitor, it is no
wonder that so many people flock to Sun City each year.
