Addo Accommodation

The greater Addo region in the Eastern Cape of South Africa encircles the famed reserve, the Addo Elephant National Park. It incorporates the tiny hamlet of Addo as well as the small towns of Paterson, Kirkwood, Colchester and Cannonville. Addo is guaranteed to feel like a home away from home, thanks to the warm Eastern Cape style of hospitality.

The Addo region is truly a playground for the adventurous. To the north you will find the Zuurberg Mountains which provide a striking barrier between the semi-arid Karoo landscape and the green, hills ands and-dunes of the south. There is a long stretch of coast to explore too and of course, the star of the show, the Addo Elephant National Park, is a must-visit!

The park was proclaimed in 1931 to protect the small number of elephants remaining in the Eastern Cape. Since then it has grown and thrived and a number of game has been re-introduced. If you visit this malaria-free game reserve today, you could run into dense herds of elephants, the endangered black rhino, hyenas, leopards, lions and buffalo.

The park is one of the most biologically diverse areas inthe world and contains 5 of the 7 biomes within its boundaries. While you will hit the Zuurberg Mountains in the north, the South is home to the Alexandria dune field which boasts one of the widest, longest stretches of sand-dunes in the Southern Hemisphere.

If you choose to stay in Addo, you will have the pleasure of choosing from superb lodges and health spas to self-catering cottages and guesthouses. Activities on offer include guided tours into the reserve, hiking, visits to the surrounding community projects, 4x4 trails and horse-riding.
