Clansthal Logement
Clansthal is one of the many pretty beach resorts on KwaZulu Natal’s South Coast. This coast is also known as the Hibiscus Coast and is one of the province’s hotspots where tourists are concerned. This is the case because of a number of factors. The climate, proximity to Durban and position are the leading plus points.
It is situated about 40 kilometres to the south of Durban, between the little beach towns of Umkomaas and Scottburgh. It thus shares the same subtropical climate as the city and its surrounding areas. Summers, which fall between December and March, are hot and humid while winters, between May and July, are warm and dry.
The settlement lies on the coast of the Indian Ocean, which is a warm sea, swimmable throughout the year. This combination of warm water and warm weather ensures that most beach-lovers who visit fall in love with the place immediately.
Clansthal’s location on the beach is also decidedly pretty, surrounded by coastal dunes, lush vegetation and of course the beautiful stretch of beach. Five kilometres off the coast is the Aliwal Shoal, one of the most popular scuba- diving sites in South Africa.
Popular activities in Clansthal include diving, surfing, swimming, beach walks. The Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve is a few kilometres to the south of Clansthal, where you can go on walks, checking out the natural, indigenous vegetation and the critters that live there. The Clansthal Conservancy is also worth a visit for nature lovers. The 2190 hectare area is home to numerous bird species as well as small mammals and the marine section often sees visiting dolphins and whales.
