Kaapsehoop Accommodatie
Kaapsehoop, also spelled Kaapschehoop, is a small, misty, mysterious town 25 kilometres south west of Nelspruit in the Mpumalanga province.
The air of Kaapsehoop is just filled with mystery and enchantment, not least because of the wild horses making the rocky fields around the town their home. These feral horses appear as unicorns in the mist of the town and visitors have been known to marvel at them for hours on end.
The town’s air of intrigue is exploited in the Kaapsehoop Ghosts Tour – a must for those intrigued by conspiracy and the supernatural. This hour long tour explores the history of Kaapsehoop, stopping at sites of historical significance with stories of murder, mystery, political intrigue and Paul Kruger's millions - stories all from the early years of the gold rush.
The Kaapsehoop History Tour, not to be confused with the ghost tour, is another fascinating experience. The tour delves into the history of the village, from Adam’s Calendar (an ancient stone calendar site) to the Anglo Boer War entrenchment.
For a more physically demanding exploration of the village, there is the Kaapsehoop Escarpment Walk. The walk is along a trail that meanders through the unusual rocky formations of the village to get to the edge of the escarpment. Here one will find jaw-dropping views and a 1000 metre drop into the Barberton Valley.
Just outside the town are the Battery Creek Falls. This incredible, naturally occurring water feature drops 30 metres and provides a great massage... should you be brave enough to stand under the water. The falls also provide a nice pool for swimming.
In addition to the horses, the falls and the fascinating history of the place, the area surrounding Kaapsehoop is home to some rare birds. Clearly this is a place that has the potential to satisfy everyone, even the pickiest of travellers.
Imagine a place where breath taking views and traditional country hospitality are combined . . . . a place with individuality, grace and charm to capture your precious moments.
