Manaba Beach Unterkünfte
Manaba Beach is a small holiday resort on KwaZulu Natal’s South Coast (dubbed the Hibiscus Coast by the tourism board). Manaba Beach is a few kilometres north of Ramsgate, and so close to Margate that it is often considered a suburb of the slightly larger town. The welcoming subtropical climate, the Blue Flag accredited beaches and its proximity to Port Shepstone (commercial hub of the South Coast) and Durban (capital of KwaZulu Natal) make it an extraordinarily popular destination, especially among local holiday-makers, who head for the coast over long weekends and school holidays.
As is the case up and down the South Coast, Manaba Beach is a haven for sun-worshippers and when the weather is good, which it usually is, the number one activity is to head to the beach. Apart from being clean and well kept, there are life guards on duty and shark nets in place to ensure swimmers’ peace-of-mind. There are also numerous rock pools for exploring and tidal pools for a slightly different swimming experience. For an enjoyable below-the-sea experience try snorkelling, or better yet, visiting one of the dive sites off the coast. Surfing is also a popular activity.
While there is no doubt that the beach is the focal point of Manaba Beach, there are other exciting activities in the vicinity to tempt you away from the South Coast’s golden sands and the warm Indian Ocean.
The Mzimkhulu River, which is in Manaba Beach, makes for a lovely, slow barge trip and is also a great place for canoeing. Nearby you’ll find the famous Oribi Gorge, with its mind-blowing views and array of adventure activities like zip-lining and abseiling. Just outside the Oribi Gorge and also easily accessible from Manaba Beach is a pleasant surprise for coffee lovers. For an alternative experience, you can do a tour of a coffee farm and learn the process from plant to cup, in Echo Valley.
