St Lucia is a vibrant settlement on the Southern end of Lake St Lucia, some 2. 5 hours North of Durban. Due to its wild unspoilt beauty, rare animal life and proximity to Durban, it is an extremely popular destination for local and international tourists. Many visitors stop in St Lucia for a few days enroute to the more remote areas of the Elephant coast.
One of St Lucia’s main draws is its position near to the iSimangaliso Wetlands Park. The park was declared a UNESCO world heritage site, due its international importance as a conservation area. The park protects the largest estuarine system in Africa.
Staying at one of the many game lodges near the park will allow you to view and experience a wide variety of animal life that the diverse eco-systems of the park sustains. Prepare to espy crocodiles, hippos, leatherback turtles, rhino, elephants, leopards, over 530 species of birds, including flamingos, bushbuck and countless more.
Aside from game viewing and the safari experience, visitors to St Lucia can take part in a host of other fun activities, including whale and dolphin watching in the winter months, and fishing all year round. You can also just enjoy the long stretches of pristine beach and the opportunities to sunbathe and relax. The high dunes make the beach ideal for walks and playing volleyball.
St Lucia is also well known for its seafood restaurants, in no small part due to the areas popularity as an angling destination. A visit to one of these guarantees the freshest seafood around!
St Lucia offers a laid back and peaceful holiday experience, but leaves visitors with rich experiences.

A holiday town catering for tourists and out of towners. A nice street market with a good selection of arts and crafts to be purchased.
The restaurants are varied and a good selection of dishes are available.
