Cape Town Comic Con 2016
The Mother City will be hosting a first-of-its-kind event, the inaugural Cape Town Comic Con. The event takes place from 7-8 May 2016, and invites all comic-lovers as well as aspiring artists and writers to join in on the action.
Attendees can meet their favourite local, regional and international comic artists, include the likes of the world-acclaimed Ian Churchhill, the brain's behind Marvel's favourite anti-hero, Deadpool. Alternatively, discussions, as well as workshops, will be held to discuss the ins and outs of comic-book writing styles and designs.
If you're looking to add more to your comic collection, there will be a number of book launches happening over the weekend, so grab your fresh-off-the-printing-press copy. Peruse the many stalls selling a miscellany of comic-related paraphernalia including graphic novels and board games. Casual gamers and competitive players can put their skills to the test at the board gaming zone, where they'll be put up against like-minded folk. If you are a fan of rare vintage comics, there will be an exclusive showcase of collectables one can browse through and purchase.
If you enjoy dressing up as your favourite superhero or villain, take part in the cosplay masquerade. If the panel of judges like your costume you stand the chance to win some great prizes!
To add to the festivities there will be live music performances happening throughout the day, providing a platform to up-and-coming local musicians.
