Winterton Festival 2015
The popular Winterton Street Festival returns on 7 November 2015 for it's yearly installment of food, entertainment and culture.
The scenic town of Winterton is the gateway to the central Drakensberg and lies in the foothills of the mountains. Testament to it's great appeal, Winterton won the KwaZulu-Natal Town of the Year Competition in 2013.
Locally referred to as "innistreet", the main street of the town is closed to traffic and open to fun. Visitors to the festival can look forward to plenty of good food, music and a lively atmosphere. Feast to you heart's content on wors rolls, hamburhers, pancakes, brekkie buns, speciality cakes and a whole array of local wine and craft beer on offer.
There are plenty of actitivites to keep the young and young at heart amused, with ziplining, segway rides, a carousel, a big swing, water balls and horse-and-carriage rides.
Every year local entertainers take to the stage to entertaine to visitors to the Winterton Festival. Last year saw local musical street performer Wiebke Holm and the acclaimed Drakensberg Boys Choir, amongst others, thrilling growds.
Shop at the craft stalls selling everything from zulu crafts, art, cheest, vlothes, clothes and much more. Marvel at the vintage cars, horse and carriage, tractors and combines on display. For the brave few, there is a mechanical bull available - see how long you can stay in the saddle!
Make a weekend trip of it and take the time to enjoy the beauty of the majestic Drakensberg.
