Leisure Bay Unterkünfte
The KwaZulu Natal South Coast has many picturesque beaches and friendly little towns, but none more so than Leisure Bay. The tiny settlement is widely acknowledged to have one of the most beautiful settings on the Hibiscus Coast (the alternate name for the South Coast) and given its location that really is saying something.
Leisure Bay is located as far south as you can get before finding yourself in the Eastern Cape. It is just a few kilometres north of Port Edward and just a 10 minute drive into the neighbouring province of the Eastern Cape.
The settlement has 3 main beaches, all of which are protected by shark nets and patrolled by a small army of lifeguards. This is reassuring as the warm subtropical climate and the pleasant year-round temperature of the Indian Ocean would make it very tough to keep yourself out of the water!
The community at Leisure Bay is very small and creative artist types constitute a large percentage of the permanent residents. They like it for many of the same reasons that you will too, namely the impressive, inspiring scenery, the great weather and the lack of crowds.
Attractions in and around Leisure Bay, should the beach itself not be enough for you, include the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve which you’ll find inland with its resident Cape vultures and the Wild Coast Sun Casino. Umtamvuna is an idyllic reserve and a must for bird watchers, especially given the Cape vultures’ threatened status.
The Wild Coast Sun Casino offers hours of fun either on the games floor, at the country club and golf course or at the wild water park.
All major amenities can be found at Port Edward.
