Knysna Cycle Tour 2018
The Knysna Cycle Tour takes place every year at the sleepy Garden Route town of Knysna. The cycle tour, which is an off-shoot of the Knysna Oyster Festival, takes place over two days with events for both road and mountain enthusiasts of all fitness levels. In 2018, the event runs from 30 June till 1 July 2018.
The Knysna Cycle Tour is the main fundraiser for the Knysna Rotary Club which supports a number of educational and skills enhancing initiatives as well as hospital and health care projects in the area.
As always, the emphasis is on fun geared toward the whole family.The organisers have designed several routes that vary in difficulty, meaning that there is something for the beginner right up the seasoned pro.
The mountain bike routes are designed by the acclaimed Leon Evans, who also mapped out the Cape Epic routes, and include beautiful sections of the Knysna Forest and surrounding mountains. The MTB race is open to everyone, from professionals to newbies - as route lengths vary from 15km to 80km.
The road races are recommended only for the fitter of riders considering the least challenging route covers a distance of 50km. The road routes runs along the Garden Route with views of the ocean, lagoon and mountains.
Both the off-road and on-road races begin and end at the Oyster Festival show grounds, where there will also be a cycle expo for those particularly keen on all things to do with cycling related.
